Happy New Year
Happy New Year everyone! Have fun and be safe tonight. As much as I would like to be that lady wearing a very cool party mask drinking champagne tonight, I am afraid a week of traveling about in the snow and very little sleep is curtailing any hopes of staying up past 9 tonight, let alone dressing up to the nines. Maybe next year? Goodnight 2011!

Holiday Fun
Some fun photos from a holiday party we went to last night...this is a party where they have really fun games where you can win really fun stuff. One of the things we won was a gift certificate, so my question is, do you buy something you wouldn't normally buy for yourself since it's a gift or do you buy something you need? I am trying to get better as using gifts like these as an excuse to buy something new and exciting that I have been coveting but more times than not I end up buying stuff like a cord for my husband's electric shaver that I have been meaning to buy for weeks or wall lights for the kid's room. I know, boring right?

Happy Halloween

Last year's skeleton in the pumpkin patch
Happy Halloween! We still have pretty young kids in the house so Halloween is still a bit of a mystery for them but tonight Maya will trick or treat for the first time so that ought to speed up the learning curve.
Today we carved our pumpkins and roasted the seeds. Here are a couple yummy seed recipes:Sweet Mix:
1 cup pumpkin seeds
1 TB melted butter
1 TB sugar
1/2 - 1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/8 tsp allspice
Wash and pat dry your seeds. Toss the seeds with the butter, sugar and spices. Heat oven to 300 degrees and bake on a baking sheet for 45 - 60 minutes.

Salty Mix:
Pumpkin seeds
Olive oil
Salt
Soy sauce
Douse and toss liberally with olive oil, salt and soy sauce. Roast in 375 degree oven for 20 minutes or until they are nicely browned and crispy.
