DIY Bathroom Art

Check out this DIY tongue-in-cheek bathroom art.  I love it.  I think this will be a great winter craft when we are stuck in side most of the day.  From Ohdeedoh, she writes: After cutting the tubes in different widths, I painted a few of the insides then sprayed everything with an acrylic finish to protect against any moisture-related issues. Next, I arranged the pieces to form a design that I liked, glued them together and hung the assembly on the wall with a handful of straight pins. Inexpensive and easy to do, this shows that handmade art doesn't have to be a big undertaking."

DIY Shibori

It was a tie dying weekend over at the farm...we followed Honestly...WTF's instructions for Shibori and it was awesome.  I have done this before and each time they end up so very cool.  We did a bunch of onesies for some upcoming newborns and some old not-so-white-anymore T's.  I'm going to cut the collar off one of the T's and wear it Cali style.  Pretend the sun is sticking around even though I know the dark days of winter are fastly approaching.

Sunday Sunday

ahhhhh...Sunday was awesome.   The kids BOTH slept through the night until 5AM then went back to sleep until 8 ish.  Then while the littlest one was being entertained in the living room, I got to snuggle with my toddler in bed for almost an hour!  It was heaven.  And as if it couldn't get better, my husband made blueberry pancakes.  Loved loved loved that morning.  Everything was at a slightly slower pace than normal - maybe it was the weather (first grey Fall day we've had so far...a novelty at first but it quickly becomes the hottest topic to complain about with friends), maybe it was the fact that it was Sunday or maybe we were just all on the same page for once.

Rock-a-bye Baby

Where did that thing called sleep go?  I mean, here I am at 10:30 PM, both kids have been asleep for a couple of hours and I am surfing around the web when I could be dreaming away.  That's the thing about sleep - you never get it when you need it and you never need it when you can get it.  Torture.

So my 2 kids share a room - 2 1/2 and 5 months old.  It's been OK so far.  And by OK, I mean I only have to get up 4 times or less.  Twice seems like a godsend.  But I suspect that they are waking each other up at night so I have split them up for an experiment.  So far, nothing can be concluded as it's only been 2 nights.  Baby Sebastien seems to be winning the sleep-through-the-night game though (although we'll touch on his naps later.)  Funny.  I thought the baby would be keeping me up all night but alas it's the toddler!

The girl wants what she wants when she wants it.  And who's to blame her?  If I could manipulate someone to get me juice or change my PJ's cause I just peed my pants or to "snuggle me" at any time of night, heck, I'd scream and shout too.  Sounds like a good deal.

Tracy Reese's hair was amazing.  Definitely had that vintage vibe but was so "i just woke up and tossed my hair up" - must find a way to do this.

From Zac Posen to Marchesa, lots to love here.  I am loving the colors from Tory Burch and Cristian Siriano!  Looks like it is all about color which is so fun given we are headed towards the dark and grey days of winter soon.

From Style.com

Calling all free time, calling all free time!! Time to start crafting! These are so inspiring and thanks to Honestly...WTF, totally a doable DIY project.

Check out instructions for the pom pom necklace here and for the wrap necklace here.

I have started on the wrap necklace and it's a great project for when your husband moves his movies to the top of the netflix queue without you noticing.  Just saying.

copycat that: children

Some great ideas around the web for entertaining children...I will probably be posting something like this weekly as I find it helpful to have some ideas in your back pocket for when you run out of the ol' stand bys.

Scatter on the Brain

When did I become so scatter brained?  Was it the toddler or the second child that pushed me over the edge?  I REMEMBER being on top of my game: never late, always early, mostly showered and stylishly dressed, bills paid on time, dinner served every night.  The other day my friend asked me to hold his cell phone while he chased after our toddlers in the water at the beach.  When it was time to leave I could NOT find his phone anywhere near where I had been, sitting no less (watching my infant), even though I had SWORN I had put it in the zippered pocket of the Ergo.   After a fruitless search in the general sandy area where I had sat, I was on the verge of tears from frustration and utter embarrassment that I was not responsible enough to hold on the a freaking cell phone for 20 minutes when 3 girls came up with the missing item. PHEW!  Saved by fourteen year olds.

Hey, someone has to have their head on right.
